The Challenge
Reality is in the eye of the beholder and that was a limiter for Gary. Gary was a top-performing and tenured leader who had great passion for his work. Willing to fight for what he felt were the right outcomes, he felt ‘dying on the sword’ and ‘taking one for the team’ were valiant efforts that demonstrated his commitment and value. And, on one hand, it did. Yet it was also a limiter. Upon throwing his hat in the ring for a promotion to VP, Gary was told he lacked gravitas and would bring too much drama to the role.
The Solution
Shocked at the news, Gary set out to make a change. Through Brand Your Brilliance Coaching, he came to understand what people perceived and why. He learned to harness his incredible talents and communicate with strategic enthusiasm that people could easily align with and support. Empowered with tools and coaching, he executed a brilliant personal PR campaign and in about six months’ time, he turned a perceived flaw into an incredible asset.

Entering the race as a dark-horse candidate; Gary dazzled leadership with his transformation and won the VP promotion. In his own words:
